- Communicate with Teachers: Ask your child's teacher for ideas you can use at home.
Let the teacher know what has (or hasn't) worked in the past with your child. When parents and teachers work together,
children are more likely to succeed!
- Reward good effort! Make sure your child knows that it is OK to make mistakes.
Encourage your child to try his/her best!
- Be a role model. Show your child that reading and other basic academic skills are
important in the real world. Let your children see you read and write.
- Provide structure for homework time. Teach children to complete homework in a specific
time and place. Remove any distractions such as TV or other people. Teach children to take short breaks when
they begin to feel frustrated.
