Why did I decide to become a special education
teacher?
Since I was in high school, I knew that
I loved to teach others. It wasn’t until I was in college that I decided
to devote my life to it. I suppose I felt connected to those students who were
struggling and needed that extra attention. I had always been a strong student. I love to learn and want my students to feel the same way.
What is my philosophy of education?
I believe that every student deserves the opportunity
to learn. Kids learn in different ways and at different paces. The student who
can learn his multiplication tables in two weeks isn’t any “smarter” than the student who needs two months. Some kids are smart because they can kick a field goal in a football game. Other kids are smart because they can build a rocket out of Legos.
Every child has at least one strength. This strength could be the building
block to that child’s success.
